Community Guidelines

Last updated: October 24, 2026. Version 3.

mello exists for one thing: making real friends by showing up to real events. These guidelines keep it a place people trust enough to walk into a room of strangers. They apply everywhere on mello, your profile, events you host or join, group chats, and direct messages. Breaking them can cost you your account, and serious violations are reported to the authorities.

Be a real person, honestly

One real you. Use your real name and recent photos of yourself. No impersonation, no fake accounts, and no running multiple accounts. A business or organization may use mello only through an organizer account that mello has approved.

18 and over. mello is for adults. You must be at least 18. Accounts we believe belong to minors are removed.

Accurate plans. If you host, describe the event truthfully, the activity, place, time, and who it is for. Do not bait people to a different plan than the one they joined.

Strictly platonic

mello is built for friendship, not dating. Do not use it to pursue romance or sex. Chats open only with people you have actually met at an event, and they are for planning and staying in touch, not for advances.

No sexual or romantic pressure. Unwanted flirting, propositions, or sexual messages are not allowed, and repeating them after someone declines is harassment.

Treat everyone with respect

Zero tolerance for hate. No slurs, harassment, bullying, or attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or body.

No threats or violence. Threatening, intimidating, or inciting harm against anyone is an instant removal and may be reported to law enforcement.

Consent and boundaries. Respect a no the first time, in chat and in person. Do not share anyone else's photos, location, or contact details without their permission.

Keep people safe

Women-only means women-only. A woman with a verified identity can make her free member event women-only. Only members who signed up as women and verified their identity can then see it or join. Gender is what each member tells us when they sign up: our ID check confirms who you are, not your gender. Misrepresenting your gender to enter is a serious violation and a permanent ban. Ticketed events cannot be limited by sex or gender, and ticket prices cannot depend on them, as the Organizer Terms explain.

No illegal activity. No events or content involving illegal drugs, weapons, violence, or any crime. Events with alcohol must be 21+ where required and never centered on getting minors intoxicated. A paid event may have alcohol only when a licensed venue or vendor sells and serves it, and no event may be promoted around alcohol, as the Alcohol section of our Terms explains.

Protect the vulnerable. Absolutely no content that sexualizes or endangers minors. We report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement, always.

Keep it clean and honest

No spam or scams. No advertising, recruiting, MLM pitches, fundraising, phishing, or sending people off-platform to pay you. An approved organizer may promote its own events and sell tickets to them through mello. Do not post links or payment requests in chats.

No graphic or explicit content. No nudity, sexual content, gore, or shocking imagery in profiles, covers, or chats.

Show up or cancel early. Reliability is a promise to the group. If plans change, cancel in time so your seat opens for someone else instead of leaving the host short.

Reporting and enforcement

You can block or report any member or event from their profile or the event page. Reports are reviewed by real people. Depending on severity we may warn, remove content, suspend, or permanently ban an account, and we cooperate with law enforcement when someone is in danger.

Reporting in good faith never counts against you. Filing false reports to harass someone does. If something feels wrong or urgent, contact us at [email protected], and if anyone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first.
